Let the Creativity Flow

In class today, someone mentioned how they would rather use their imagination in writing than write a structured essay. I completely agree with that, and it made me think of how awesome it would be if Ball State offered a creative writing class that consisted of only creative writing. No talk of sonnet structure or the right ways to write haiku. Just a 50 minute class where one can write freely and be able to use imagination without limit. I love to write poetry, I have done so since the beginning of high school. My creative writing class senior year shaped my life more than any other class. Who would turn down the chance for a teacher to turn on soothing music and allow students to have their creativity flow openly? The prospect of getting credits to do what I love would be the epitome of an amazing and fulfilling class.

  1. I completely agree with you on that one. I don't mind English class, but creative writing is so much fun! I don't find that often in my classes. The only creative writing I did was in a class made for it in high school, and it was insane how easy the class was. I missed two assignments purposefully and I still got a 103 percent. How I did that is beyond me. *sigh*

  2. Well, Tanya, I think that all writing is creative in some form or another. I never used to like writing papers (it's still not my favorite thing) but once I began to look at it from a creative standpoint, I started to enjoy it a little. If you want, you can write for 50 minutes 3 days a week and then pay me a few hundred dollars a semester to critique it. I would gladly do it...or I might just read it for fun cause I love poetry too. I've written songs for as long as I can remember, but my high school creative writing class really got me into writing poetry, and now I fuse them as one. Plus, it was a great way to get issues off my chest.
